PEARL CITY (HawaiiNewsNow) – Moses Felipe had just paddled out at Nimitz beach Sunday for a surf day with his son.
“I heard a crunch on the back of my board and felt it shake”, he said.
Felipe said he looked back and saw the mouth of a shark clamped down on the tail of his 10-foot board.
His son, Cameron, was about 20 feet away.
“I saw the shark’s tail come out of the water and slap down”, he said. “I was scared for my dad.”
Cameron estimates the shark was six to eight feet nose to tail. Felipe fell off the board then scrambled back on and paddled for shore with his son.
