Surfing Sally sizzles in hot photo shoot
07 Dec, 2011 04:00 AM
It’s Sally, champion surfer Sally Fitzgibbons from the sports pages, seen not that long ago with her teeth in braces and more often photographed as a blur of rash vest and wet ponytail.
The world women’s surfing number two has given her clean-cut image a good throttling, posing topless for the surfing/lads’ bi-monthly Stab Magazine.
She appears in a highly stylised series of photographs shot at Maroubra by Richard Freeman.
Stab Magazine editor Derek Rielly said such shoots were a sought-after rite of passage for female pro surfers because the magazine had a history of showing them in a “glamorous way”.
He said the magazine had approached Fitzgibbons, 20, of Gerroa, to be photographed but had not paid her.
“We’ve got quite a history of shooting professional female surfers. The girls are quite competitive to be on our shoots because they know they will look amazing,” Rielly said.
