Dooma was born in the small town of Kommetjie and was raised by baboons. When he was 9 years old, scavenging for food on the beach with his fellow baboons, a surfer broke his leash and his board washed into Dooma's legs. He quickly picked it up and began his pro surfing career. This was briefly interrupted by a small burst of fame and the accent to attract beautiful women.
