Former professional skateboarder Tony Hawk wants to release a skateboarding game on mobiles, “The Birdman” told CNBC (via Polygon) in a new interview. He said more people are gaming now on mobiles and he’d like to release a title there to capitalize on that popularity.

“You just have to adapt and you have to realize where people are going to actually play their games,” Hawk said. “It used to just be Nintendo and PlayStation, and now it’s all kind of devices. So you’ve got to learn to adapt what you know from the technology into those areas…I’ve been wanting to do a mobile game for a long time.”

According to CNBC, Hawk said freemium is the most attractive business model for mobile games today because players can download for free and pay later on if they want to.

The Tony Hawk series of skateboarding games dates back to 1999’s original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Since then, more than a dozen games have been released across consoles and portables. One game in the series, 2000’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, was later ported to iOS by Activision.

The most recent Tony Hawk game was 2012’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, developed by Robomodo and released digitally for Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and PC.
