As of 6:30 a.m. on Monday December 5, 2011, jelly fish were not present throughout Cocoa Beach from Coconuts on the Beach northward to Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral, and have not been present for the last three months despite prevailing winds from the east and northeast.

Blackened Sargasso seaweed is still present on shore, but has diminished substantially in the water thanks to westerly winds over the last few days. However, high easterly winds over the last 48 hours may bring more seaweed back to the near shore waters today.

Waves are 3 to 5 feet and choppy – not a surfing day today due to onshore winds. There is a near-shore ocean current heading southward.

Surf fishing has been better this week, given the lack of seaweed, small waves, and drop in temperature.

Today should be an ok day for surf fishing – but also a very windy day which could cloud the waters. So be sure to examine the waters before you set up and cast. One small sandbar that clouds the water can make the difference between having a good day of fishing versus a catfish haul.

Low tides will have less clouded water today than high tides.

Black Drum, Blue Fish, Red Drum, Whiting and Pompano are hitting up and down the Brevard County coastline from Sebastian Inlet to Jetty Park.

Current Temps: Water 72 F Air 72 F

20 Mile Cape Canaveral Buoy: 7.9 Ft. swell every 10 seconds.

Tides:
03:34 AM High
09:51 AM Low
03:38 PM High
10:10 PM Low
