MANILA, Philippines – A fisherman and his son were rescued by authorities in Antique after being stranded at sea for a week.

Gerry Malabago said his fishing vessel, with his son and 2 others also onboard, flipped over and was swept away by a huge wave on July 30.

The 43-year-old Malabago and his son, 24-year-old Mark Anthony, sustained wounds after being attacked by a shark.

Both were brought to the Philippine Coast Guard Office in Iloilo after being treated for injuries.

According to Malabago, their 2 companions have already been rescued.

Malabago and his son were brought to General Santos City to be reunited with their family. — Report from Kenneth Ladigohon, ABS-CBN Iloilo
