Kite surfer drowned after getting caught in kelp off Malibu

 

A 28-year-old kite surfer drowned in Malibu after getting caught in a bed of kelp, a coroner’s official said Tuesday.

Dante Torres, 28, was pulled from the water unconscious and not breathing by a lifeguard and was declared dead at 7:54 p.m. Monday.
