North Carolina surfer sets world record for longest #surf session – #aloha

KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) – The Town of Kure Beach is now home to the newest surfing world record holder!

Ben Shaw started riding waves on Saturday morning at 6:34 a.m. He kept riding throughout the night, until shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

 

In total, the Kure Beach native spent more than 29 consecutive hours on his board in the water.

The ride will officially be approved by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest consecutive surfing session in history!

Large crowds came out to J Avenue this afternoon to cheer on the local celebrity.
