Search suspended for missing man off North Shore

SUNSET BEACH, Oahu (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Coast Guard and Honolulu Fire Department have suspended their search for a visitor who went missing off Oahu’s North Shore.
Crews had searched for Robert Rumberg. The 51 year-old Colorado man disappeared Wednesday night. The Coast Guard had searched for Rumberg in an area starting ten miles west of Kaena Point along the coastline to 29 miles east of Kahuku Point. It also extended searches offshore nearly 40 miles. Honolulu Fire crews suspended their search at sundown Saturday.
Authorities were first notified that Rumberg was missing when a resident called the Cost Guard, reporting a missing surfer in the vicinity of Sunset Beach. The surfboard Rumburg had borrowed was later found near Rocky Point.
