Big Waves, Patchy Fog Expected Labor Day Weekend

The Labor Day weekend forecast calls for mild temperatures and huge waves.

or IB, the unofficial final weekend of the summer season is expected to have patchy fog in the mornings that will give way to sunny skies, with some breeze mixed in, especially on Sunday.

While the mild weather will be nice, it’s the booming surf that has drawn crowds and is expected to last through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service, which has issued a High Surf Advisory through 9 p.m. on Sunday. The waves will slowly subside but will still pack a punch.

The NWS forecast for Imperial Beach:

Saturday: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy through midmorning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 73. Northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday Night: Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 63. Northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Sunday: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday Night: Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Labor Day: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 73.

Monday Night: Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 61.
