Large Swell to Hit Beaches Midweek, Hazardous Conditions Possible
Surf could be dangerous, especially on south-facing beaches surrounding Pillar Point Harbor and Gray Whale Cove State Beach.

Large waves from a storm system in the Southern Hemisphere are expected to reach the San Mateo County coast by midweek, the National Weather Service warned today.
The waves—collectively a long-period southerly swell—could cause hazardous conditions on beaches, especially those facing south, including parts of Gray Whale Cove State Beach, beaches surrounding Pillar Point Harbor, Twin Lakes Beach in Santa Cruz, Stinson Beach in Marin County and parts of the Big Sur Coastline.
