CRESCENT BEACH, Fla. – A teenager bitten by a shark Wednesday has been released from the hospital.
A shark, estimated at 6 feet, bit Shane Lancaster, 19, of Keystone Heights, around 11 a.m., according to the witness David Macri, who works at the Blue Surf Shop.
The surfer was taken to Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine and discharged today.
Lancaster said the bite felt like a punch, and then he looked and saw the shark. He was bitten in the left leg.
It is unclear what type of shark bit him, but an expert at the University of Florida called Lancaster lucky that he was not more injured.
