Resident fights surfing lake
A resident behind a campaign group fighting proposals for a surfing lake on land next to the Portway says it is vital the site is preserved for future generations.
David Wedge says the 13-acre Bristol and West sports ground near Sea Mills is an inappropriate site for the £5million Wavegarden UK project. But Mr Wedge, a member of Friends of Avon Gorge, said the group is not against the concept of Wavegarden UK and even suggests that Filton Airfield could be a valid site.
He argues the current site is home to a number of rare plants and important ecosystems.
