Search still on for missing Korean surfer

KOTA KINABALU: The search is still on to find an 18-year-old Korean student who has gone missing while surfing at Simpang Mengayau in Sabah’s northern-most district of Kudat.

Jaedeok Hwang was part of a 32-member group from South Korea who had come to Simpang Mengayau, famously known as the Tip of Borneo on Saturday.

He was hit by a strong wave while surfing and went missing.

The waves at the area had been parti­cularly strong due to the present monsoon season.
