VIDEO: Flare Surfing is the Coolest Thing You Will See All Day
Just look at that picture and tell me that’s not the most boss thing you’ve seen in a while. I find surfing fascinating, only because there’s -1000% chance I’ll ever grow a set and try it. So when I watch these surfer dudes tame these huge waves, I’m awestruck.
Then this guy comes along, straps a flare to the end of his board, and I’m absolutely mystified. It just proves the old adage—if you add fire to something, it becomes totally badass…surfing included.
This surfer is a member of the Red Bull Minor Threat 2011, a team made up of four veteran surfers and four surfing juniors, with the premise that the two different levels of surfing expertise will drive each other towards further greatness in the waves.
I don’t think this can be topped…unless you can surf on the back of a great white or something. I don’t think that’s recommended though. Safety issue and all that.
